Growth Mindset
Your view of yourself can determine everything. If you believe you can’t change, NOTHING will change because that is your belief. Your thoughts lead to action which will then create your life. Becoming aware and intentional with your thoughts means connecting with your inner world. Allow yourself to make the changes needed to create the life you want. You aren’t a prisoner to your thoughts, you can control more than you think.
Adopting a growth mindset allows us to embrace challenges, persist when facing setbacks, see effort as mastery, learn from feedback and find inspiration from others.
These are a few things you can start doing today to help adopt a growth mindset.
Change your vocabulary! Instead of saying “I can’t eat that” say “I shouldn’t eat that”. Switch negative terms to consciously using confident words. For example “I don’t eat.”
It’s not about “fixing” yourself or your past self. Instead focus your energy on what you’re looking to create. Give yourself the chance to start over and move forward. You are building yourself NEW!
Let go of behaviors and habits that don’t serve you. To create the life you want, you have to act like it. Ask yourself, will this help me accomplish my goal?
Avoid being influenced by motivation alone. Motivation will only take you so far. This journey is about creating long term and sustainable habits. External motivation like IG models or pursuing a perfect body has an expiration date. Find your Why? Why do you want to be healthier? Why do you change your habits?
Train your body to think logically instead of emotionally. For example, when we see cake or cookies we instantly are trained to salivate and emotionally react. Instead, ask yourself in the moment “How will that piece of cake help me reach my goals,” “How will it deter me”, “What would it do to my body,” it’s ok that you are reacting emotionally but logical thought helps you to make a decision towards your goals. This isn’t deprivation. Depriving yourself would be starving yourself from food. We are looking to train ourselves that food is for fuel and function.
Ultimately, you hold all the power to change your life starting with a thought!
